The Story of Bright Cowork

Corey Brown escaped the DC metro with his family in 2004 to live a more relaxing pace in the Shenandoah Valley.  A year later, he started regretting the decision, feeling disconnected, working alone, and growing tired of Winchester.  To pursue the collaboration and lifestyle he craved, he decided to move to Austin, Texas.

But a series of events ended up squashing the big move. So he had to do something. Fast.

Recommited to staying in the Shenandoah, he started looking around and discovered there were some really incredible people in the area.  Talented developers, designers, and people of all walks and professions. And everyone was complaining about the same thing: Winchester didn’t offer much in the way of collaboration and building high-tech, creative community.

So Corey decided to create Bright Cowork, a collaborative workplace where he would be happy to work, build a community of other professionals and creatives, and be inspired.

Marilyn Finnemore and Aldo Bello had just the place for this idea. They had bought and renovated an old department store in the center of Old Town Winchester into a bright, welcoming, creative space and named it Bright Center. Willing to embrace a new concept in leasing and build energy in Old Town, Marilyn and Aldo joined forces with Corey to create Bright Cowork.

Since Bright Cowork’s launch on January 2, 2009, Corey, Marilyn and Aldo have created the space they dreamed about creating, and the energy and people pulsing through have inspired them on numerous creative and business projects. Join us. Take part in the conversation. Feel the vibe.
